Summary: TDB Notes stores all your data on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We do not collect, store, or have access to any of your recordings, transcripts, or personal data. Your API keys never leave your device except to communicate directly with the provider you selected.
1. Introduction
TDB Notes ("the App") is developed by Thadubiz ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about our data practices.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not do:
- We do not collect any personal information
- We do not access your audio recordings
- We do not read your transcripts or analysis results
- We do not store your API keys on our servers
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
- We do not serve advertisements
- We do not share any data with third parties
- We have no servers — zero backend infrastructure
3. Data Storage
3.1 On-Device Storage
All your data is stored locally on your device:
- Audio recordings (.m4a files) are saved in the app's private Documents directory
- Transcripts and analysis results are stored as individual JSON files per note
- API keys are stored in the iOS Keychain, Apple's secure credential storage
- User preferences (language, selected providers, models) are stored in UserDefaults
- Custom prompts are stored in UserDefaults and optionally synced via iCloud Key-Value Store
3.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, your notes and recordings are synced between your devices via Apple's iCloud Documents. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account, managed by Apple, and protected by your Apple ID credentials. We have no access to your iCloud data.
You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in the App's Settings.
4. Third-Party API Services
TDB Notes uses a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. You provide your own API keys to access third-party AI services. When you use these services, your audio or transcript data is sent directly from your device to the provider — it never passes through our servers (we have none).
4.1 Transcription Providers
- Apple Speech Recognition — On-device processing. No data leaves your device. No API key required.
- OpenAI (Whisper) — Audio is sent to OpenAI's API for transcription. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini — Audio is sent to Google's API for transcription. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
4.2 Analysis Providers
Important: We strongly recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy before using their services. You control which providers receive your data by selecting them in the App's Settings. You can revoke your API key at any time from the provider's website.
5. Permissions
The App requests the following device permissions:
- Microphone — Required to record audio notes. Audio is stored only on your device (and iCloud if enabled).
- Speech Recognition — Required for Apple's on-device transcription. Processing happens entirely on your device.
Both permissions can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.
6. In-App Purchases
TDB Notes offers a one-time "Pro" upgrade. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect any payment information. Purchase status is verified locally on your device via StoreKit.
7. Children's Privacy
TDB Notes does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The App does not include any age-gated content or features. Since we collect no data at all, there is no risk of inadvertent collection of children's information.
8. Data Deletion
Since all data is stored on your device and your personal iCloud account:
- Delete individual notes within the App (swipe to delete)
- Remove API keys in the App's Settings
- Delete the App entirely to remove all local data
- Manage iCloud data through iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage
There is no data on our servers to delete because we have no servers.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
