NameDay

Overview

NameDay helps expecting parents find the perfect name together and invites family and friends to guess the big day — all while keeping your family's moments private.

NameDay has no accounts to create and no advertising, and it does not track you. The names you browse and shortlist stay on your device. A shared prediction challenge is stored with Apple's iCloud / CloudKit and is visible only to the people the host lets in. Anonymous usage statistics are off unless you switch them on (see Anonymous Usage Statistics).

Information We Collect

We (the developer) do not operate a server of our own, do not have user accounts, and do not sell or share your personal information. What you do in NameDay lives in one of these places:

• On your device — the names you browse, your couple's shortlist, your parent labels, your album photos, your profile photo, and challenges played only on one device are stored on your device (SwiftData).
• In NameDay's iCloud / CloudKit database — when you host or join a shared prediction challenge, the challenge, the participants' first names, their guesses and the challenge chat messages are stored in NameDay's CloudKit database, hosted by Apple (see the next section).
• Anonymous usage statistics — only if you opt in (see below).

How Shared Challenges Use iCloud / CloudKit

The baby-prediction game can be played entirely on one device (passing the phone around), or shared with family and friends. To share it, NameDay uses Apple's iCloud / CloudKit, in the app's public CloudKit database.

• The host publishes a challenge and gets a short invite code. A challenge can only be found with its exact code — there is no list or search of challenges.
• A guest who enters the code sends a join request with their first name. The host approves or declines each request. Only the host and approved guests can make predictions and chat; the app only displays what they wrote.
• What is shared with the challenge's members: the challenge (title, due date, chosen categories, revealed answers), each member's first name, their guesses and the chat messages. Your shortlist, photos and profile photo are never uploaded.
• You join with your own iCloud account; there is no NameDay account or password. NameDay never sees your Apple ID, e-mail address or iCloud identity: participants are identified by a random code generated on your device.
• This data is hosted by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. Because it sits in the app's own database, the developer can technically access it through Apple's CloudKit tools; we do so only to answer a support, safety or deletion request.

Share your invite code only with people you trust: anyone who has it can ask to join, and the host decides who gets in.

Anonymous Usage Statistics (optional)

After the welcome tour, NameDay asks whether you would like to help improve the app with anonymous usage statistics. Nothing is sent unless you accept, and you can change your mind any time in Settings → Anonymous statistics.

• What is measured: which screens are opened, which features are used (for example adding a name to the shortlist, creating or joining a challenge), whether the premium screen was shown, and whether a purchase succeeded — plus basic technical data such as app version, device model, OS version, language and country.
• What is never sent: the names you browse or shortlist, your guesses, chat messages, photos, your name, or anything that identifies you. No advertising identifier (IDFA) is used and the app never asks for tracking permission, because it does not track you: it does not link this data with data from other companies' apps or websites for advertising, and does not share it with data brokers. The app ships without the advertising-identifier components of the analytics SDK.
• How long it is kept: event-level statistics are retained by Google Firebase for at most 14 months; only aggregated, non-identifying reports are kept beyond that. Switching the setting off stops all sending immediately.
• Provider: Google Firebase Analytics, on Google's servers, under Google's privacy terms. The data is used only for aggregated statistics about NameDay and is not shared with advertisers.

Purchases

NameDay offers an optional one-time in-app purchase (no subscription) that unlocks the full name catalogue, rich name stories, advanced filters and hosting shared prediction challenges. Joining a challenge as a guest is always free.

All purchases are processed directly by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We never see, receive, or store your payment details, card number, or Apple ID.

Data Storage & Deletion

• Deleting the app removes all of its locally stored data from your device.
• When the host deletes a shared challenge, it is removed from the CloudKit database and no one can open it any more.
• To have your guesses or chat messages in a shared challenge erased, write to us (address below) with the challenge's invite code; we will delete them.
• Anonymous statistics: switch them off in Settings at any time.

Third Parties

NameDay contains no advertising SDKs and no cross-app tracking libraries. The external parties involved are Apple — in-app purchases (StoreKit) and iCloud / CloudKit for shared challenges — and Google Firebase, only if you opted in to anonymous usage statistics.

Children's Privacy

NameDay is intended for expecting parents and adults. It contains no ads and does not knowingly gather any data from children under 13.
